We have a number of great golf holes here at Rivers Edge Golf Club and the 18th hole provides a fantastic finish for players.  As 2017 comes to a finish we though we would look at how our course finishes.  The view is amazing. The layout is tough but fair.  The back drop is as good as it gets.  These are all statements that have been heard over and over in the clubhouse as golfers finish their day.

Arnie’s Revenge gets most of the attention as far as being a signature hole but the 18th hole is no slouch in its own right.  The tee box sits below the fairway so that the landing area is not completely in view.  To the right of the tees is the marsh that divides the river and the golf course.  In fact the marsh runs the entire length of the hole.  It makes for a pretty intimidating tee shot considering that there are out-of-bounds markers along the left hand side of the fairway in front of the condominiums.  Oh, and the hole is a slight dog-leg right.  YIKES!

Once golfers get to the top of the hill and out into the fairway, they are treated to a spectacular view down the slope to the green complex. The clubhouse sits up above the hole on the left side looking down over the green and out across the marsh.  It provides a picturesque approach shot that can make it hard for players to focus on it is so beautiful.

Let’s not forget that the marsh runs right up to the edge of the green area, making the green look much narrower than it actually is.  There are bunkers along the right hand side and the back of the putting surface.  Short of the green is open and is the bail out shot for any golfer that can’t get the ball all the way to the green in the air.

As you can see this is a wonderful finishing hole on an outstanding golf course.  The late, great Arnold Palmer knew what he was doing when he made this hole.  No doubt about it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the management and staff of Rivers Edge Golf Club!  Thanks for a great 2017!  Here’s to an even better 2018!  Come Play the Edge!!
